The cliffs called Chapadão, located south of Praia do Amor, form a flat area and without vegetation, which separates two beaches, the Praia das Minas (Minas Beach) and Praia das Cancelas. This set up forms an unusual desert with a breathtaking landscape.
From the northern part of these cliffs, you have a spectacular view of the Praia do Amor (Love Beach) and on the south side, of Sibaúma.
You can reach Sibaúma via the cliffs, but it isnot recommended for ordinary cars because of the soft sands - do not risk it if you have no experience.
The Minas Beach and Praia da Cancela are part of an ecological program, the Tamar Project, for the protection of nests of the sea turtles, which can be seen between September and January when they leave the water to come bury their eggs on the beach. You can learn more about the project Tamar in Pipa, visiting the Ecological Sanctuary
